This publication highlights the role of local engagement in improving healthcare delivery in underserved areas. By involving community leaders and stakeholders, the project fostered trust and collaboration, leading to increased uptake of healthcare services. Strategies included health education campaigns, establishment of community health committees, and partnerships with local NGOs. The publication also explores the impact of integrating Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) into healthcare initiatives. Through VSLAs, community members were trained to pool resources for emergency medical needs, fostering financial resilience and reducing reliance on predatory lenders. Key success stories, such as that of Mrs. Abiojoga Helen, showcase the transformative power of this approach. Mrs. Helen used her VSLA savings to afford a life-saving surgery for her husband, a feat she previously thought impossible. Author: Dr. John Adewale URL: hcsi-ng.org/publications/community-health
